Accelerating Progress

CATS Cambridge is committed to academic excellence for our students. Academic excellence for a CATS Cambridge student combines intellectual curiosity with excellent examination results. Our engaging curriculum, varied supra-curricular activities and opportunities for independent research nurture intellectual curiosity. A rigorous approach to examination preparation enables our students to achieve the strong academic grades they need to pursue undergraduate studies at top UK and international universities.

Our approach combines excellent classroom teaching with homework activities and focused revision sessions that increase subject knowledge and familiarity with the exam format and question types. The syllabus is covered systematically and in depth to ensure strong understanding with misconceptions and mistakes quickly addressed. Regular assessments, including homework and weekly tests, allow teachers to identify knowledge gaps to address, ensuring students are thoroughly confident in each area.

Familiarity is achieved by using real past exam questions in lesson and homework activities and by carefully analysing question types. Students understand different question types, empowering them to apply their Mathematical reasoning skills effectively. Regular use of past exam papers, including mock exams, allow students to develop their exam technique and increase their familiarity and confidence with exam questions and the content. Additionally, revision sessions cover exam techniques to help students use their time well, whilst also offering focused recaps of topics and areas.

Strengthening University Applications

Strong academic grades are important, but what they reflect matters more at CATS Cambridge. These results demonstrate our students’ embrace of academic excellence and their ability to apply their knowledge and learning. These are important skills for university study, and we pride ourselves on preparing our students to thrive as undergraduates.

We offer the opportunity to complete IGCSE examinations alongside A Level studies to help our students to strengthen their university applications. IGCSE examinations demonstrate subject mastery, time management skills and an ability to apply knowledge and learning in different contexts. Taking on additional study can be a challenge but we encourage students to embrace all opportunities that develop their academic independence, resilience and confidence.

Admissions officers look for confident, resilient and independent learners, who can cope the academic demands of university study. CATS Cambridge supports students to develop their personal traits through academic, athletic and artistic extra-curricular and supra-curricular activities. Offering the opportunity to undertake IGCSE examinations alongside A Levels students is just one way CATS Cambridge students are encouraged to embrace academic excellence and develop their independent learning skills in preparation for university.
